Prediction note: This article discusses industry reporting, leaks, and informed guesses as of August 26, 2026. Apple has not confirmed these future products or their specifications. Plans, names, timing, features, and prices can change—or never happen. Please do not make a purchase decision based on a rumor alone.
Apple news moves quickly, especially in the months around new hardware announcements. The useful question is not “What is guaranteed next?” Rumors are not guarantees. The useful question is whether waiting has a real benefit for your computer or phone.

What is real right now
Apple announced the M6 chip in a new Mac mini and M5 Ultra in a new Mac Studio on August 25. That is confirmed news—not a prediction. It also means an M6 Ultra is not the sensible thing to wait for today; Apple has just refreshed its highest-end desktop chip with M5 Ultra.

The foldable iPhone is still a rumor
Several industry reports point to Apple working on a book-style foldable iPhone. The repeated themes are a larger inner display, a smaller outside display, a premium price, and special attention to the hinge and screen crease. None of that is an Apple promise. The name is uncertain, too.
An iMac update is more believable than a redesign
Reporting suggests Apple has an iMac refresh in development. The next 24-inch iMac may use a newer chip, possibly M6, but the exact processor and release date are not confirmed. Rumors have not established a large new iMac or an OLED model for this fall.

Our practical advice
- If your current device is slow, unreliable, or cannot run the software you need, buy based on what exists now.
- If it works well and you are curious about a foldable phone or a refreshed iMac, waiting for Apple’s own announcement is reasonable.
- Do not sell a working device, pre-order through an unfamiliar seller, or pay a deposit based on a “leak.”
